Round Trip Tickets to NYC — Affordable.

Boutique Hotel in Mid-Town Manhattan — Ridiculous.

Winning the Daphne Award for Unpublished Mainstream Mystery — PRICELESS!

New York City is an incredible, energetic place. Throw in the New York City Library, the Strand Bookstore, Times Square, Central Park, Hell’s Kitchen and it’s enough to send a geek like me into sensory overload.

On Thursday, I was honored to be named the first place winner of the 2015 Daphne du Maurier Award for Mainstream Mystery / Suspense Unpublished Division. As if that wasn’t enough, the ceremony was at a “Death by Chocolate” reception hosted by The Kiss of Death chapter of the Romance Writers of America. Talk about dying and going to heaven! (Which, I’ll acknowledge, might be a bit north of where some people thought I’d land…)

I’m so honored. Thank you to all the dedicated people at the Kiss of Death chapter who encourage new and established writers each year.
